Welcome,

Before welcoming you, I want to say a huge "THANK YOU". Once again.

This is the first report the Science for Life Foundation is sending to those who are supporting the TeleHealth Points project, to keep you up-to-date on how it's evolving.

The project, that reaches out in aid of the populations of Central Italy affected by earthquakes last year, has received extensive backing. Enormous thanks go to the Italo-Canadian community of Toronto, ever alert and ready to help their motherland in an emergency.

We will never take for granted the role of our friends Sam Ciccolini, Senator Consiglio di Nino and Toni Varone, without whom the project would not have been possible.

My heartfelt thanks go to each and every person who has contributed in one way or another to bringing adequate healthcare to this deprived area.

Keep following us. And supporting us.

TeleHealth Points Project

Healthcare for earthquake-stricken populations

As you all know, the objective of the TeleHealth Points project is to establish mobile polyclinics in areas stricken by earthquakes, to give both direct on-site assitance and specialist care via remote connection with major hospitals, to ensure full coverage of the patients' healthcare needs.

For this purpose, on July 25 the go-ahead was given to build the first Mobile Telemedicine Unit. For the basic model, an Italian vehicle without special driving licence requirements was selected.

The first two vehicles have already been produced and approved by the MCTC (the Italian government department in charge of transport policies) as "Vehicles for Special Mobile Hospital Practice Use".

The objective of the Science for Life Foundation is to identify valid scientific research themes and innovative aid projects for people in need, then gain support from socially aware donors and, once the budget has been secured, execute the projects keeping a close check on cost control.
